When I began working in the mining industry in 1994, on the construction of the Zaldivar mine in Chile, the price of gold was below US$400 per ounce and copper was below $0.90 per pound. Today, gold is over US$3,200 per ounce and copper is over $4.60 per pound.

You might wonder why this matters to AZ World and/or the translation industry.

The reason is simple. AZ World’s field of expertise is translation for the mining industry and related fields. In the last two months, we have received several inquiries for environmental studies, technical reports, feasibility studies, and closure documents for some mines that were under care and maintenance which might be profitable again today.

Companies have different names today; mergers and acquisitions have changed their names over the years. Still, the translation memories and glossaries that we have developed over the years are more relevant today than ever before.

We just analyzed a report with over 500 pages, and we had close to 30% leverage from an old translation memory from a client that does not exist today.

If you need to bridge the language divide and connect with a broader audience, contact us at info@a-zworld.ca or visit www.a-zworld.ca the AZ World team will be happy to assist you.
